The unique model of Management Education based on the highly acclaimed dual-system of Education in Germany was introduced in India by IGCC a quarter century ago in Mumbai through the Indo-German Training Center. Since then similar centers have been established in Chennai and Bangalore. The core objective of this endeavor was to create a cadre of trained management executives who were well versed in the theory of management principles and practices, but also had adequate hands-on-training in select Indian corporate houses, German subsidiaries and Indo-German joint-ventures in India, thus enhancing their confidence in facing up to real-life situations. The representatives of the industry were overwhelmingly supportive of the initiative of the Chamber for the reason that it created a talent-pool from which they could select their own employees. The model based on 12 months of theoretical lessons and six months of practical internship in corporate houses, embedded as part of the curriculum, has proven to be eminently suited to Indian conditions.
Particular emphasis placed by IGTC on highly qualified and experienced faculty members, supplemented suitably by industry representatives as guest lecturers, has ensured that quality education is imparted and that the curriculum is periodically updated, taking into account the latest developments in the business world as well as the requirements and aspirations of the employers. Several of our 300 and odd alumni have been absorbed either by the organizations where they underwent their internship or by other reputed corporate entities.
We believe IGTC as
an institution has contributed at least in some small measure to enhancing the
employability of the youth of India at affordable costs. The continued success of this endeavor
depends solely on the support and patronage of the student-community and the
industry. We on our part rededicate
